Former Speaker McCall, Cameron County Commissioner Moscato Appointed to Gaming Control Board

The Times-Tribune is reporting that former state House Speaker Keith McCall has been appointed to the Gaming Control Board by current House Democratic leader Frank Dermody.

McCall’s appointment will allow him to take his seat before the House Gaming Oversight Committee acts on legislation aimed at forcing former legislators to wait one year after retiring before serving on the board.

According to the Times-Tribune:

He could take up his duties potentially in time to help decide among four applicants, including Fernwood Resort and Hotel in Bushkill, for the remaining resort casino license. It’s uncertain when the gaming board will vote on that license.

“Keith McCall will be ready to deal with the matters facing the board on day one,” Mr. Dermody said in a statement being released today. “He has very little homework to do because he helped to write the law that created this board and he monitored gaming developments closely as a House leader.”

Mr. McCall said his knowledge of regional concerns will be useful in his work as a gaming board member.
