Georgia PAC Sets Sights on McSwain

A political action committee from Georgia has set its sights on Pennsylvania gubernatorial candidate Bill McSwain. And not in a nice way.

The 1776 Project Committee, chaired by Rick Thompson, is supporting Lou Barletta and calling out McSwain as “Toomey’s Puppet.”

Its website tells supporters that “Bill McSwain is Pat Toomey’s Puppet,” and to “Tell Bill that Pennsylvania needs a Governor who is puppet to No One.”

According to Andrew Seidman at the Inquirer, it does not go into any ties between the retiring two-term U.S. senator and McSwain. But many GOP voters still regard Toomey as a traitor for voting to convict former President Donald Trump during his second impeachment trial.

Toomey did offer support of the candidate after McSwain resigned as U.S. Attorney, noting, “When local leaders charged with upholding and prosecuting violent crimes chose to abrogate their responsibilities, Bill McSwain stepped in to fill the void. This is just one of many examples that illustrate Bill’s dedication and leadership to enforcing the law and making sure people are treated fairly under it. Bill’s work over the past three and a half years to the Eastern District of Pennsylvania has been indispensable and I thank him for his service to our Commonwealth.”

  1. Negative works sorry to say. When I heard the anti Oz ad about Rhino candidate I paid attention. Big bucks saying bad things about you doesn’t help because 99 percent of the voters will never meet you. Lou could win the nomination.
