Gerlach Being Propped Up by NRCC, Willingly Deceived a Reporter to Cover it Up

Concerned That His Reelection Campaign Needs Help from His Party, Gerlach’s Campaign Hides the Money Pouring in from National Republicans

ELVERSON, Pa. – During the month of September, the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) spent $80,000 in coordinated campaign donations (also known as 441(a)(d) money) to benefit the campaign of Congressman Jim Gerlach. While his party is mostly focusing on going on offense, they apparently see Congressman Gerlach’s vulnerability, and are spending nearly the federal limit in coordinated dollars to pay for negative television advertising on his behalf.

In a recent article (http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1010/43788.html), Congressman Gerlach’s campaign willingly deceived a reporter from Politico by making it sound as if the NRCC was uninvolved in the race like they have been with incumbents they don’t feel need protection. Congressman Gerlach’s campaign even mentioned a donation he made to the NRCC — yet Gerlach fails to mention that he has received nearly as much back through these coordinated campaign expenditures.

This can be found in the NRCC’s October Monthly Report, which covers the dates from 9/1/10 to 9/30/10. To see it, click here: http://screencast.com/t/eouONCvas, or follow the directions below.
