GOP State Committee Events Preview

The Republican state committee of Pennsylvania is meeting this weekend among other things to endorse candidates for the 2011 state wide judicial races. Read PoliticsPA’s Judicial race preview (with endorsement predictions) here.

This is the first time the state GOP has met since the November elections, so expect the mood to be jubilant and celebratory all around. However, somewhat counter-intuitively, there are fewer cocktails and socials outside of official events. Or maybe PoliticsPA is too used to covering last weekend’s Democratic state committee meeting…

All of the weekend’s festivities and meetings will take place at the Harrisburg Hilton Hotel and Towers.

Social Events

11am-6pm – New and Improved Hospitality Suite sponsored by Chairman Gleason and Vice Chairman Joyce Haas
Location: Bridgeport Room

This is the one-stop-shop for committee members, and is a good place all day to catch up with friends and fellow politicos. All State Party members are invited to visit the hospitality suite for refreshments throughout the day. Sandwiches, snacks and drinks will be served. There is no cost to attend.

6pm-7pm – General Reception
Location: Outside Harrisburg Ballroom

Participants: All State Party Members and special guests are invited
A great place to meet and mingle – if you’re coming this weekend, make sure to be there.

6pm-7pm – V.I.P. Reception with Congressman Pete Sessions
Location: Harrisburger Room

This is the GOP’s main fundraising event over the weekend – don’t expect to get in without a ticket. Price: $250 per person, $400 per couple

7pm-9pm – 2011 PA GOP Lincoln Day Dinner with Keynote Speaker: Congressman Pete Sessions
Location: Harrisburg Ballroom

The PA GOP is pulling out all the stops for this event. This is going to be a dinner to remember. Official business is important and everything, but truthfully, if you’re planning to come to state committee this weekend you’d better attend the dinner too.
Non-State Party rate is $100 per person, state party members $75, young/college Republicans $50.

9pm-11pm – United “Wii” Won
Location (tentative): Leland Room

If you think that a shindig with beer, wine, snacks, music and a Nintendo Wii doesn’t sound like a political event, you don’t know Nick DiFrancesco. A former Dauphin County Commissioner who ran for LG last year, DiFrancesco is hosting this event sponsored by the FirstPAC (the PA Association of Community Bankers). This event is free to attend and open to all state committee and visitors. This is where most of the action will be after the dinner tonight.

9pm-11pm – Reception with Marc Scaringi for Senate
Location: Governor’s Boardroom

This reception with Marc Scaringi, the only declared GOP candidate for Senate in 2012 so far, will follow the Pennsylvania Republican State Committee Dinner. There will be ice cream and other desserts available, and it’s a good opportunity for Scaringi to make the case to state committee members that he stands the best chance to beat incumbent U.S. Senator Bob Casey. There is no cost to attend.
