Kathleen McGinty’s campaign announced Monday that it hired Fred Yang, a Democratic pollster and partner with DC-based Garin Hart Yang Research Group who previously worked for Senator Bob Casey.
McGinty said,”As a political strategist and pollster, Fred Yang has a winning record in Pennsylvania second to none. Fred Yang will help lead our campaign to create a Pennsylvania of new jobs and a brighter future.”
Yang spent time working on campaigns from the municipal level to statewide, including Mayor Michael Nutter in Philadelphia, Mayor Luke Ravenstahl. He succeeded in helping elect the governors of Maryland, Kentucky, Tennessee, Oklahoma, South Carolina, North Carolina.
In addition to his successes, Yang was a pollster for Democrats’ failed 2012 Wisconsin re-election challenge against Governor Scott Walker. He also worked for convicted Illinois ex-Governor Rod Blagojevich.
The announcement of Yang’s hiring comes on the heels of fellow Democrat, Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz, deciding her staff picks last week. Former Pa. Revenue Secretary Tom Wolfe hired his campaign manager on April 29th.
Former DEP Sec. John Hanger and minister Max Myers are also in the running for the Democratic nomination to challenge Gov. Tom Corbett.
McGinty announced her run for the Democratic nomination in April. She was the Secretary of the PA Department of Environmental Protection under Governor Ed Rendell. She chaired the White House Council on Environmental Quality for President Bill Clinton from 1993 to 1998.

I wonder if Katie’s pollster and campaign manager can cover up the fact that over the last three years, she managed to wreck a thriving Brownfield and Energy practice at Weston Solutions as a Senior V.P. She recently took a “Leave of absence” while the CEO, COO and hundreds of others got laid off. While a troubled overseas project was the major cause, her “practice” was dissolved as well due to lack of progress.
