State Representative Mark Painter, a one term Democratic incumbent, lost his seat in a rematch of the 2012 election.
With 90% of the precincts reporting, Quigley leads Painter by 4%, 9,067 votes to 8,320 votes.
In 2010, Quigley was re-elected by a 56.2%-43.8% margin over Painter. The tides turned in 2012, when Painter defeated Quigley by a razor-thin margin of 50.4%-49.6%.
With Quigley’s win, the 146th House District flips the seat to Republican control. Since 1969, Painter had been the only Democrat to represent the district.
The district is located in western Montgomery County, just east of Pottstown.
