HD85: Special Election Set for August 20

Today, Speaker Mike Turzai announced August 20 as the special election date to fill the open state House seat vacated by Rep. Fred Keller (R-Snyder).

Keller was elected to represent the 12th Congressional District in the U.S. House after cruising to a victory over Democrat Marc Friedenberg in the special election last Tuesday. He represented the 85th district since 2010, and won comfortably or ran unopposed in the general election during his time in the state House.

The GOP went three for three last week in special elections in the state legislature, holding on to three Republican friendly districts.

The parties will pick the candidates to run in the special election.
