Hillary Takes a PA Pit Stop on the Way to Iowa

The worst kept secret in politics was followed by the best kept secret.

Yesterday, in a move that surprised no one, Hillary Clinton announced her 2016 presidential campaign.

Her introductory video sought to shift attention away from herself and on to the voters. In fact, the Hillary team has gone to great lengths to portray this endeavor as unpretentious and down-to-earth.

Still, they caught the entire media world off-guard when it was revealed Clinton would literally be traveling from New York to Iowa in a van. According to Alex Seitz-Wald of MSNBC, this is not a campaign bus but an actual van. In addition to the Secret Service, the candidate is being accompanied by just two aides, spokesman Nick Merrill and Huma Abedin (yes, that Huma Abedin).

Gabriel Debenedetti of Politico is reporting that the idea was Clinton’s herself.

The Keystone state played a major part in this odyssey as the candidate’s stop at a Lamar gas station is how the news got out.

Lamar is a town between Williamsport and State College located in (of course) Clinton County.

In a way, it makes sense that Clinton’s first unofficial stop would be in Pennsylvania, as her father was born in Scranton.

Hillary’s pit stop is the first in what will likely be a long line of visits from the 2016 presidential candidates to the commonwealth.

  1. That’s funny. I wonder started that war? Who could have possibly planted a story in the New York Times, then ran with it? I wonder if he has a brother running for president? Bringing up the Iraq War: not the smartest move.

  2. BREAKING NEWS: Democrats are now excited about a candidate who voted for the Iraq war.
