House Appropriations Chairman Stan Saylor (R-York) is requesting former Governor and DNC Host Committee Chairman Ed Rendell testify before his committee over the way the Host Committee spent the $4 million surplus.
“I am writing to request your presence before the House Appropriations Committee on Thursday June 15th. The committee will be looking into whether the Commonwealth should offer grants in support of specific political events or private events,” Saylor wrote in the letter attained by the Philadelphia Inquirer.
The House GOP Leaders, including Saylor, sent letters to DNC Chair Tom Perez and Rendell calling for them to refund Pennsylvania the $4 million surplus. Governor Tom Wolf said he was disappointed in the actions of the Host Committee and called for the Auditor General to review the records.
The Host Committee used $1 million of the surplus to give out bonuses ranging from $500 to interns and volunteers, to $310,000 to Executive Director and Treasurer Kevin Washo.
