“I’d Like To See Who My Options Are”

As we move into the dog days of August, the sprint to the general election in November grows closer and closer with each day.

Democrats, who are facing traditional headwinds that face the party in control of the executive branch during midterms, also are being asked about their support of President Joe Biden.

The 79-year-old chief executive has seen his approval ratings tick ever so slightly upward in recent days but is still well below water at 39.2 percent, according to averages compiled by FiveThirtyEight.com.

Questions have been raised about whether Biden should run again in 2024 and some Democrats have struggled to answer.

Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.) said earlier in the week that she did not believe that Biden would choose to run again, then walked that back today in a CNN interview.

“I want you to run. I happen to think you won’t be running, but when you run or if you run, I will be there 100%. You have deserved it. You are a great president, and thank you for everything you’ve done for my state and all the states and all the cities in America. Thank you, Mr. President.”

The Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC) has released a video showing three different Democratic state legislative candidates in Pennsylvania – Sen. Lindsey Williams (D-Allegheny), Sen. Katie Muth (D-Montgomery) and candidate in the 168th District, Lisa Borowski, opting away from public support for the 46th president.
