Inside Elections Keeps PA Governor Race As A ‘Battleground’ In Latest Ratings

This national ratings outlet keeps Pennsylvania’s 2022 governor’s race in it’s “battleground” category in their latest ratings update

Inside Elections places Pennsylvania as one of eleven states in the “battleground” column for 2022 gubernatorial races. This is Inside Elections fifth ratings update for the 2022 gubernatorial races and Pennsylvania has remained in the battleground category in each update.

The states that fall under the “Democratic battleground” category alongside Pennsylvania are Kansas, Maine, Michigan, Nevada, and Wisconsin. The five states that fall under the “Republican battleground” category are Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, and New Hampshire.

Pennsylvania is one of three states under the “battleground” category which will be an open race for Governor in 2022. The other two gubernatorial races in this category that will be open seats in 2022 are Arizona and Maryland.

Other national ratings outlets also place Pennsylvania’s Governor’s race in a category that signals how competitive it is expected to be in 2022.

The Cook Political Report lists Pennsylvania’s Governor’s race as one of three states that are considered to be Toss Ups in 2022, while Larry Sabato’s Crystal Ball has Pennsylvania as one of the five states in their Toss Up column.

Inside Elections final 2018 ratings listed the Governor’s race between Gov. Tom Wolf (D) and GOP state Sen. Scott Wagner as “Likely Democratic.” In 2014, Inside Elections final ratings placed the race between Gov. Tom Corbett (R) and Democratic challenger Tom Wolf as “Democrat Favored.”

  1. Inside Elections is very reluctant to jump out in front with bold proclamations so if they say something I listen. They are very detailed in their analysis and full of information. Very measured.

  2. Pick a good one, Dems. You don’t want anybody the GOP/GQP favors as PA guv.
