Internal PA-17 Poll: Deluzio and Shaffer In Statistical Tie

Chris Deluzio-Jeremy Shaffer

An internal poll conducted by Lake Research Partners showed Democrat Chris Deluzio with a slender one-point advantage over Republican Jeremy Shaffer in the race for the open 17th Congressional District seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Deluzio pulled in 43 percent of the responses, while Shaffer came in at 42 percent. Fifteen percent of the respondents were undecided or unsure.

Shaffer had more name recognition than his opponent by a 31-23% count.

The difference in support is well within the margin of error. The pollster, rated A/B by FiveThirtyEight.com, registered responses from 400 likely voters between July 18-21 and had a MOE of +/- 4.9 percent.

The 17th Congressional District includes Beaver County and a large section of Allegheny County’s suburbs is considered a toss-up by The Cook Political Report. Deluzio is favored according to FiveThirtyEight.com’s deluxe model. The District was Biden +6 in 2020.

  1. Chris Delusio is by far a better candidate than Shaffer. Shaffer lost to Lindsay Williams. Enough said!
