Jill Biden To Host PA Women For Biden Virtual Launch

Dr. Jill Biden is once again hitting the virtual campaign trail on behalf of her husband’s presidential campaign in Pennsylvania, but this time to officially kick off a specific effort in the Keystone State.

According to a release from former Vice President Joe Biden’s campaign, Jill Biden will host the virtual launch of the Pennsylvania Women for Biden effort, alongside women leaders from across the state on Monday evening. The event is slated to begin at 7:30 P.M.

The former VP and his wife have made campaigning in the state a priority in recent months.

Joe Biden made four visits to Pennsylvania in June alone, with his most recent visit being in Lancaster on June 25 to promote the Affordable Care Act. Jill Biden held a few virtual campaign events in the state in mid-May, as a part of the Biden campaign’s effort to reach voters in key battleground states

In a statement to PoliticsPA, the Trump Victory effort touted President Donald Trump’s record on the economy and said that Biden’s policies have “hurt Pennsylvania women and their families.”

“Pennsylvanians know that President Trump’s leadership built an economy that delivered historic results for all Americans of all backgrounds and he will do it again,” said Trump Victory Spokeswoman Melissa Reed. “Meanwhile, hidin’ Joe Biden is afraid to emerge from his basement because he spent over 40 years in government pushing policies that have hurt Pennsylvania women and their families.”

A number of recent polls show Biden ahead of Trump in Pennsylvania.

A New York Times/Siena College poll released on June 25 showed Biden besting Trump by 10 points, 50-to-40, while a poll from FOX43/Susquehanna Polling and Research released over this past weekend shows Biden leading by 5 points, 46-to-41.

In the NYT/Siena College poll of Pennsylvania voters, Biden has the advantage over Trump on race relations, who can unify America, healthcare, handling of protests, immigration, and the coronavirus. In that same polling, Trump leads Biden on the economy and China.

The NYT/Siena College poll also shows that women voters in the state are favoring Biden by 18 points over Trump, 54-to-36. This would be a slight improvement over Sec. Hillary Clinton’s performance among women voters in Pennsylvania in 2016, when 55% of women voted for Clinton in the Keystone State, while 40% of women voted for Trump, according to CBS News exit polling

In 2018, women were the catalysts behind Gov. Tom Wolf and Sen. Bob Casey’s double digit reelection victories in 2018 as NBC News Exit polling showed Wolf winning with women voters by 30 points and Casey carrying the women vote by 28 points.

Since Trump entered the Oval office, 4 Democratic women won Congressional seats in the Philadelphia suburbs and parts of the Lehigh Valley, breaking the state’s previous all-male Congressional delegation.

Although women voters favored Clinton in 2016 in Pennsylvania and delivered huge victories in the commonwealth for Casey and Wolf in 2018, the Trump campaign has also made it a point to seek out women voters in their quest of keeping the state red in 2020.

In July 2019, the national Women for Trump campaign kicked off in the Philadelphia suburbs, which included a number of Trump allies, including RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel, the president’s daughter in-law, Lara Trump, and more.

Trump’s most recent appearance in the state was when he spoke for 30 minutes at a medical equipment distribution center in the Lehigh Valley in mid-May, while Vice President Mike Pence met with community and faith leaders in western Pennsylvania on June 12 for the “Great American Comeback Tour,” which is aimed at “promoting policies that will drive America’s economic recovery following the COVID-19 pandemic.”

The Real Clear Politics Average shows Biden besting Trump by 6 points in Pennsylvania.
