Joe Sestak Turns to his Hollywood and Wall Street Friends for Help

Joe Sestak Turns to his Hollywood and Wall Street Friends for Help

Allentown – Today, Congressman Joe Sestak will turn to his Hollywood and Wall Street friends to save his flailing campaign at a fundraiser on Wall Street hosted by Hollywood bigwig Harvey Weinstein and New York Senator Chuck Schumer.

It should come as no surprise that Congressman Sestak’s Wall Street friends are eager to bail out his flailing campaign after he voted to bail them out – twice! (RC #681, 10/03/08)  Even when 99 Democrats wanted to end the Wall Street bailout in January of 2009, Congressman Sestak voted to keep the $700 billion gift to Wall Street going (RC #27, 01/22/09).  Sestak has already received tens of thousands of dollars from the very Wall Street companies he voted to bail out – and now he is clamoring for more (OpenSecrets.Org).

Also hosting the Sestak bailout is movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, a mainstay of the far-left movement and a key backer of Michael Moore’s liberal propaganda films.  Weinstein’s latest crusade has been the release of child-rapist Roman Polanski.  What exactly does Harvey Weinstein have in common with Pennsylvania’s working families?

“Congressman Sestak should feel right at home with his Wall Street and liberal Hollywood friends tonight,” Toomey Communications Director Nachama Soloveichik said.  “After voting for extreme policies that have given us record deficits, Wall Street bailouts, massive tax increases, government-run health care, and skyrocketing unemployment, it is clear that Congressman Sestak is far outside the Pennsylvania mainstream.  No wonder he needs his Hollywood and Wall Street friends to bail him out.”

Background – Congressman Sestak’s liberal record:

Sestak voted with Nancy Pelosi 97% of the time throughout his nearly four years in Congress, even voting with Speaker Pelosi 100% of the time last year (Congressional Quarterly).

Sestak has been endorsed by MoveOn.Org and received over $150,000 in contributions from the extreme, left-wing group (Fec.Gov).

Sestak voted for the job-killing cap and trade legislation (RC #477, 06/26/09) and thought it should have gone even further (Senate Forum Urban Issues, 05/03/00).

Sestak voted to keep the Wall Street bailout going even when many Democrats wanted it to end (RC #27, 01/22/09).

Sestak voted to bail out the auto companies (RC #690, 12/10/08).

Sestak voted for the government takeover of health care and thought the final bill did not go far enough (RC #165, 3/21/10) (MSNBC, Andrea Mitchell Reports, 12/17/09).

Sestak even voted for a version of the health care bill that would allow states to outlaw private health care altogether (Education & Labor Committee, 07/17/09).

Sestak voted to increase the country’s debt ceiling to $14.3 trillion (RC #46, 02/04/10).

Sestak voted for the $787 billion stimulus and thought it should have been $1 trillion (RC #70, 02/13/09) (NBC WCAU, 02/22/09).

Sestak voted to bail out Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (RC #519, 07/23/08).

Sestak is sponsoring legislation to force responsible homeowners to bail out other people’s mortgages (HR 1356).  The bill is so radical, it has zero cosponsors.
