Democratic Congressional candidate Kevin Johnson announced he will continue running for Congress in the newly drawn 3rd Congressional district.
Johnson originally announced he was running for the 1st Congressional district under the old map, but with the redraw, Johnson lives in the new 3rd district.
“We need a leader equipped to uplift our working families, support and grow our small and mid-sized businesses, and prepare the next generation for a changing economy. We need a leader committed to keeping our children safe in their schools and who knows how to get the work done. I stand ready to be that leader for the people and families of the Third Congressional District,” Johnson said.
Johnson is the Lead Pastor of Dare to Imagine Church and President & CEO of the Philadelphia Opportunities Industrialization Center.

He’s opposing an incumbent.
Will the party sell him access to VAN, or deny him as a challenger?
Of course, my VoterWeb system is open for business. 🙂
I am supporting Kevin Johnson for U. S. Congress representing District 3. With the redistricting lines drawn, he will be an visionary and effective leader in any area, but especially in the area where he and his family have lived for 11 years. He has served well in Philadelphia’s community, church and ongoing development of a nonprofit organization. There is more to do and he is committed to get results on a broader stage. Register and vote! The community, city, state and nation needs the voice and presence of Kevin Johnson!
I like contested Primaries. I hope that at least one of the many candidates that were going to challenge Bob Brady steps forward to run against Brendan Boyle too.
I will still support for Dwight Evans for congress because he will be a better shot here than you.
