Joyce and Kelly Appointed to GOP Healthy Future Task Force

A pair of Pennsylvania Republicans will serve on a newly formed 17-member GOP committee that is aiming to “build on Republican health policy successes and craft a patient-focused agenda for the future.”

Last week, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) announced that Reps. John Joyce (R-Blair) and Mike Kelly (R-Butler) will serve on the Healthy Future Task Force.

Both Joyce and Kelly expressed appreciation for being appointed to serve on the GOP committee, while also detailing what they hope the task force will achieve.

“As a doctor, I have dedicated my career to serving patients and improving Americans’ access to quality and affordable health care,” said Joyce. “I am grateful to Leader McCarthy for appointing me to serve on the Healthy Future Task Force as we lead solutions to modernize and personalize America’s health care system, push back on liberals’ radical socialist health care schemes, and prioritize advancements and innovation.”

“I look forward to working with my colleagues to craft health care policy that fosters innovation, increases choice, and lowers costs for patients,” Kelly said. “I want to focus particularly on the soaring prices of prescription drugs like insulin, and the devastating effects these prices can have on low-income families and seniors. When it comes to our health care system, we must preserve what works and fix what doesn’t, and I’m confident this task force will produce solutions that have bipartisan appeal.”

The press release announcing the members of the GOP task force accuses Democrats of favoring “top-down approaches,” and “insisting on one size fits all government takeovers like Medicare for All,” while saying that Republicans will be fighting for a “more modern, innovative, and flexible agenda.”
