Casey Hosts Town Hall in Altoona: The Altoona Mirror reports that Sen. Bob Casey hosted a town hall meeting in Altoona on Tuesday, where he promoted The American Jobs Plan and The American Families Plan. 

Three PA Republicans Visit Arizona Election Audit: The Pennsylvania Capital-Star reports that GOP state Sens. Cris Dush and Doug Mastriano and GOP state Rep. Rob Kauffman “visited an ongoing review of the 2020 election in Maricopa County, Ariz., on Wednesday.”

‘Flag Police’ acting at GOP’s urging, took down Pride Month flags, Fetterman tells donors’: The Pennsylvania Capital-Star reports on Lt. Gov. John Fetterman, who is seeking the Democratic Party nomination for U.S. Senate, and the latest in an “ongoing fight with legislative Republicans over the flags he flies from the balcony of his Capitol office.”

‘Bill would force Pa. to post online how lawmakers spend millions in tax dollars each year’: Spotlight PA reports that a measure, “championed by state Sen. Lindsey Williams (D-Allegheny), would require the House and Senate chief clerks to post the information online” about how “millions of dollars in taxpayer-funded expenses incurred by state lawmakers each year.”

USA Today Details What Election Changes Pa. County Commissioners Want: USA Today reports on “what election changes Pa. county commissioners want the Legislature to make.” 

Langerholc Unveils the DRIVE SMART Act: The Johnstown Tribune-Democrat reports that state Sen. Wayne Langerholc (R-Cambria), chairman of the Senate Transportation Committee unveiled the “DRIVE SMART Act” on Wednesday, which would be ‘another way’ to fund transportation as an alternative to bridge tolls.  

‘Central Pa. Students Plan Protest Against Sexual Violence at Capitol’: PennLive reports “Three Pennsylvania students are organizing a march and protest against sexual violence at the state Capitol in Harrisburg Thursday.” 

‘Zappala: No Plea Deals to Black attorney who called his office ‘systematically racist’: The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports that Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen Zappala Jr. “emailed all of his deputy prosecutors forbidding them from offering any plea deals” to Milton Raiford or his clients, after Raiford “spoke out against racism in the criminal justice system.” Pittsburgh City Paper reports that multiple Pittsburgh politicians have since called for Zappala to be “removed or resign from office” following this report. 

6 PA Reps Sign Onto Letter Supporting U.S. Commitment to Israel’s Iron Dome Missile Defense System: POLITICO reports that a “bipartisan group of dozens of House lawmakers are emphasizing in a new letter to Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin that they want to continue the U.S. government’s commitment to Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system.” Reps. Brendan Boyle (D-Philadelphia), Brian Fitzpatrick (R-Bucks), Chrissy Houlahan (D-Chester), Conor Lamb (D-Allegheny), Dan Meuser (R-Luzerne), and Susan Wild (D-Lehigh) signed this letter. 

Meuser Talks Origins of COVID-19 and Infrastructure on Fox Business and Newsmax: Rep. Dan Meuser (R-Luzerne), who is reportedly mulling a run for Governor in 2022, talked to Fox Business and Newsmax about the origins of COVID-19 and the “need” to pass transportation and infrastructure legislation. 

ECU/LAV Endorses Wild: In its first round of endorsements for the 2022 cycle, End Citizens United (ECU)/Let America Vote (LAV) endorsed Rep. Susan Wild (D-Lehigh) for reelection. Wild, who is one of 18 House Democratic incumbents endorsed by the group in its first round of endorsements, is the lone Pennsylvanian on the initial rollout list. 

Richey To Visit Johnstown: Jason Richey, a partner at Pittsburgh’s K&L Gates law firm who is seeking the Republican Party nomination for Governor in 2022, will be visiting Johnstown in Cambria County on Thursday to tour Hoff Enterprises to discuss “The Great Pennsylvania Comeback,” according to a press release from his campaign. 

PA18: Dickinson Calls For Allegheny County DA Zappala To Resign: Jerry Dickinson, a law professor at the University of Pittsburgh who is challenging Rep. Mike Doyle (D-Allegheny) for the Democratic Party nomination for the 18th Congressional District, has called for Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen Zappala to resign following a report from the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that Zappala sent an email to his deputy prosecutors “forbidding them from offering any plea deals” to Milton Raiford, a well-known Black attorney, after Raiford “spoke out against racism in the criminal justice system.”  

Marcellino Dies at 40: The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports that Shawn Marcellino, Plum Democratic mayoral candidate, has died at the age of 40. 

Rodgers Joins Office of Foreign Assistance at State Department: POLITICO reports that “Emily Hardman Rodgers is now a policy specialist in the Office of Foreign Assistance at the State Department. She previously was staff assistant for Rep. Dan Meuser” (R-Luzerne).  

For Our Future PA To Host Conversation with Casey: For Our Future PA, the Pennsylvania operation for the nation’s “largest super PAC devoted to grassroots Democratic turnout,” will be hosting a virtual town hall with Sen. Bob Casey on Thursday evening about “rebuilding the backbone of America by creating quality jobs and repairing infrastructure across the Commonwealth.”

  1. Big mistake for the Pennsylvania State Senate Republicans to dive into the political circus in Arizona. Pennsylvania is NOT Alabama ie a right wing playground. Politically a dumb move for State Senate R’s.
