The former Attorney General of Maryland, Doug Gansler, stood at a podium in the auditorium of the National Constitution Center, and answered the questions reporters had intended for PA’s embattled AG Kathleen Kane.
It was that kind of day.
The event began with Kane’s spokesman Chuck Ardo introducing a number of the offensive emails which were displayed on the background wall of the theater. A representative from Philly NOW then spoke in support of Kane’s action, although the young woman declined to address any questions at that time. At least she said reporters could contact her later.
Just a few moments after that, Kane took the stage to a splattering of applause.
Denouncing the “thousands” of email messages, Kane introduced Gansler as the Special Prosecutor in charge of the event.
Like during her previous statement to the press, reporters in the audience interrupted the Attorney General to ask questions only to be ignored.
Shortly thereafter, Kane turned to critics of the investigation.
“To the few who challenge it [her authority to appoint a Special Prosecutor], including some members of my own staff, I pose a simple three-pronged question,” Kane stated. “1. Are you a white male? 2. Are you or one of your buddies in this email network? 3. Are you trying to get my job without the benefit of having to run for it and being chosen by the people of Pennsylvania.”
She then advocated for minorities who may have been made fun of by the attorneys and judges who are supposed to protect them and made the same point about women.
“No women should go to work and be subject to consistent treatment of disgusting indignity by women-haters,” she said. “Because they were born with one less body part, which the last I heard does not contain any extra brain cells.”
Kane soon left without taking any questions.
Gansler spent the majority of his time defending his authority despite the suspension of Kane’s law license and stated that his intention is to complete the investigation for less than the $2 million that was spent on the Moulton Report.

@haha. I don’t know these guys but I suspect nothing will be found. By all accounts Fina was a top notch prosecutor and personal opinions aside, it’s hard to argue that the Sandusky prosecution was not a success after he was found guilty of 45 of 49 counts. Anyone with prosecutorial experience will tell you that’s a good outcome with a serial pedophile put away forever. I’m hoping that they were not stupid enough to engage in criminal behavior or ex parte communications with judges. But I look for positives not negatives. The real question is now that their racist emails have been exposed, how does Williams keep them employed investigating and prosecuting cases in a city that is 55% African American? Can they really have any credibility with a Philadelphia jury or judge? The answer is of course not. So what are they getting paid to do? any conduct by them is now suspect and subject to collateral attack. This is sad all around for the entire judiciary and one would hope that the Supreme Court step in soon and put an end to it before the credibility of the courts is irreparably destroyed.

Wait — just because Seth Wiliams continues to employ Fina & Costano doesn’t mean “nothing” will happen to them. This is the first time they will be investigated … since Kane was prohibited from doing so based on the “Protective Orders” that Fina procured from his friends on the Bench.
These guys are going to prosecute if they find evidence of crimes. I agree that the hate-gate stuff will be nothing compared to the corruption they are going to find.
What is the end game here? Other than spending millions of tax dollars on a wild goose chase? She already exposed the two worse offenders-Fina and Costanzo- and nothing happened to them. So why bother? I mean it’s not like those two guys have something on Seth Williams. Like maybe they handled anAG investigation of Williams that they shut down in exchange for a job? Or maybe Kane found out what they did and shipped it off to DOJ who opens up their own investigation of Seth with the IRS as reported by the Inquirer. I mean it’s not like Seth made a complaint to Judge Carpenter accusing the Pa AG of retaliating against him by shipping off the investigation to the Feds. Oh wait,…….still, this is a waste of $$$$

Let’s see — the lawyer that represented the star witness in the sting case (con-man Tyron Ali) talked Fina into dropping ALL CHARGES against Ali. Turns out that lawyer is also Fina’s lawyer.
Fina’s lawyer also convinced Fina to let his other client – Ali – keep the $400,000.00 he stole from the taxpayers of Pennsylvania.
Now Fina’s lawyer’s wife is the newly minted “General Counsel” at the D.A.s Office … despite having very poor qualifications.

Wow the more that comes out about the special prosecutor the better it gets. This guy who could cost all of us 2 million looks like its a match made in heaven for KK. The state police exposed how he endangered others by ordering them to ignore safety laws, partied with kids drinking, had his ethics called into question. I love it. This is so awesome. She is therefore characterizing, in all probability, her perception of the inability to trust her four top aides [who testified before the Senate’s Special Committee]; if anything else is needed to prove how dysfunctional her ongoing leadership has now admittedly become, I suspect it will emerge [perhaps as an anticlimax] during her January hearing.
During this interim-period, she is undoubtedly sensing an erosion of sympathy for her plight; this will ease the pain among Dems who had been her most ardent advocates…after she has been forcibly retired.
