Lazarus Touts Experience, Endorsements in First Ad (VIDEO)

Judge Anne Lazarus is on the air.

The Democratic candidate for Pennsylvania Supreme Court released her first ad Friday, boasting a strong commitment to ethics. Also in the 30-second statewide spot, the Superior Court Judge touts her experience and endorsements from Democratic leaders — including Sen. Bob Casey and newly appointed Montgomery County Commissioner Val Arkoosh.

The ad opens by discussing the state of Pennsylvania’s Supreme Court, calling it “a national disgrace,” referring to the arrest of Justice Joan Orie Melvin and Justice Seamus McCaffery’s resignation amidst a pornographic email scandal.

“One judge, Anne Lazarus, is the judge the other judges turn to for discipline,” says the narrator, before listing off a number of Lazarus’ accomplishments.

Lazarus joins a string of Supreme Court candidates who recently rolled out ads ahead of the May 19 primary. Republican Commonwealth Court Judge Anne Covey and Democratic Jefferson County President Judge John Foradora released their first ads Thursday. In addition, Democratic Superior Court Judge David Wecht unveiled the third ad of his campaign.

The candidates for each party are vying for one of three top spots needed to advance to the general election.

  1. Lazarus is the head of the Ethics Committee. Dismissed her friend Seamus with not even a hand slap.

  2. @cannot:
So you are saying if you know a person who does something wrong, that makes you guilty, too?

  3. Ask her about her allegiance to corrupt Justice Seamus McCaffery. Another politician that lies. So ethical. lololol.
