Bradford County Commissioner Mark Smith raised $218,660 in 2013.

After spending $107,029, he finished the year in second place in terms of fundraising for the year, with $111,631 on hand. Senator Mike Stack took first place in that race with roughly $400K on hand.

Smith didn’t come to the race with the name recognition advantage of other candidates like Rep. Mark Critz or Stack, and didn’t have the resources to roll over funds from previous accounts. But he was able to corral more than 100 small donors.

He also received $13,000 from an IBEW PAC based in DC and got thousands more from various union PACS, and he’s performed well with union endorsements. Many of his donors also fall in the “friends and family” category.

The report shows about a 50% burn rate, most of it coming from staff, travel expenses, fundraising consultants and $21,100 on a polling firm, Hamilton Campaigns in Florida. His campaign still owes Hamilton Campaigns $7,000.

Smith faces five other competitors in the race for Lt Gov: Stack, Critz, Harrisburg City Councilman Brad Koplinski, State Rep. Brandon Neuman and Harrisburg advisor Dr. Brenda Alton.
