The unemployment rate is up 0.3% from last month, but still is below the national average of 5%.
The unemployment count increased by 17,000. However, the civilian labor force increased by 30,000, to a record high of 6,501,000.
Total nonfarm jobs also saw a record high, where they increased by 15,300 to 5,891,700 in March. The largest gain was in construction which was up by 6,000, while the largest drop was in manufacturing which was down 800.
Over the year, total nonfarm jobs in Pennsylvania were up by 1.4% to 81,000. The largest increase from last year was in education & health services , which was +24,600, while the largest decline was in mining & logging, which was down by 8,900.
