Mastriano Breaks Away From Pack

Doug Mastriano

Doug Mastriano has broken away from the pack and appears to be the front-runner for the GOP nomination for governor in a Fox News poll that was released Tuesday evening.

The state senator from Franklin County pulled in 29 percent support from the 1,001 registered Republican voters that were surveyed from May 3-7. Former mayor of Hazleton Lou Barletta was second at 17 percent, while former U.S. attorney Bill McSwain and Delaware County businessman Dave White amassed 13 and 11 percent, respectively.

There are still 15 percent of respondents who indicated that they were undecided.

Mastriano has registered over 20 percent of support in each of the last four Pennsylvania polls and has received an average of 19.2 percent in the 11 polls recorded by PoliticsPA since February.

His average lead has increased to 3.0 percentage points over Barletta and nine-plus over McSwain and White.

Mastriano, who has supported former president Donald Trump in his unsubstantiated claims of election fraud, has been under attack by his opponents, while also “receiving support” from presumptive Democratic nominee Josh Shapiro. The PA attorney general has run a statewide ad that says Mastriano “led the fight to audit the 2020 election. If Mastriano wins, it’s a win for what Donald Trump stands for.”

  1. Bad news for the PA GOP, but great news for PA people, who will love Gov. Josh Shapiro.

    1. Bad news for PA Dems, but great news for PA people, who will love Gov. Dung Mastriano.

  2. This is very bad news for the PA GOP and Pennsylvania’s future. Double “Hell, yeah.”

  3. As we speak, Josh Shapiro is planning how to spend cash in close districts to get a majority in the State House, under the new maps. The blue wave in PA could easily buck the red wave in the rest of the country.

  4. Corman was their best bet but the R’s brushed him aside. He was never in it from the start. Campaigned a little. Made a few appearances and quickly faded away. Mastriano from the get go was the front runner. No one could touch him. Signs in the rural areas. Signs in the suburb areas. Everywhere was a Mastriano sign. What worries me is the amateur mistakes. Upset at a Shapiro ad before the primary is finished. Banning the press from a fundraiser and the CNN employee had to rent a room to cover the event. Minor league politics. Amateur hour mistakes.

    1. It’s because Mastriano’s staff is just as clueless as he is. Doug is paranoid and doesn’t trust anyone out side of his little circle of church sycophants.

    1. It’s Ding Dong Doug, The Insurrectionist. And his supporters are to be referred to as Doug Heads.

      1. The preferred term is actually now “Double Digit Doug,” since he’s going to get smoked by Double Digits in the General Election.

Can’t wait for all his little sycophants to scream that “election fraud” is the reason Shapiro wins 65% to 35% and not the fact that their candidate is a literal dumpster fire surrounded by even more dumpster fires

Not to mention the stirkingly…shall we say….phallic ….figure that “D3” cuts…not sure that really fits in with his whole “Christian Warrior” shtick

  5. Asked if Republicans are worried because of questions about Mastriano’s electability, Josh Novotney, a former campaign finance director for Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.), said, “You can quote me on this one: Hell, yeah.”
