May 1st Playbook

A bill to change how the lieutenant governor is selected passes the state Senate, while GOP members bring back a bill to assist gun owners in making it easier to challenge local gun laws. Here is the Playbook.

  1. Pennsylvania needs more federal funds to help its 67 Counties upgrade their voting machines to voter-verifiable ones with paper backup to defend better against cyberattacks. PA would be the only State in the Union without such a system, despite being one of the largest “battleground” States. After a hostile foreign power was able to penetrate state and county election offices, election security experts and the Trump Administration have urged the transition to auditable voting machines.

  2. It would be nice if the King of Pennslyvania, King Scarnati, were as zealous with fair redistricting as he is with gun rights. Of course, the King Scarnati lead Senate would be obsessing about challenges to local gun laws and disinterested in fair redistricting while going all the way with appeals when their ploy to have unfair congressional districts was foiled by the Pa Supreme Court.
