Mayor’s Statement on Superintendent Roosevelt’s Resignation

Mayor’s Statement on Superintendent Roosevelt’s Resignation

Mayor Luke Ravenstahl today commented on the resignation of Pittsburgh Public Schools Superintendent Mark Roosevelt:

“Through hard work, energy and passionate leadership, Mark has improved the lives for thousands of Pittsburgh’s children and set our public school system on the path to success. I am extremely grateful for Mark’s leadership and his commitment to implement bold, transformational ideas.

Mark and I stood together and announced our vision for the Pittsburgh Promise when no one believed it could get done. With Mark’s enthusiasm and a strong commitment from UPMC, we were able to turn a bold idea into reality. Now, the Promise of higher education lives within every public school student.

I look forward to working closely with Mark’s successor and the school board to ensure that our schools continue to improve as we seek to create more opportunities for our youths, attract more young families, and grow our City’s population.”
