Just a few days out, Democrats had solid leads in the race for U.S. Senate and Attorney General. That’s according to the latest poll from the Allentown Morning Call and Muhlenberg College.
Sen. Bob Casey lead opponent Tom Smith by 6 points, 48 percent to 42. Kathleen Kane lead Dave Freed by 13 points, 49 percent to 36.
The survey of 430 likely Pa. voters was conducted from Nov. 1 to 3 via live telephone interviews on landlines and cell phones. The margin of error is plus or minus 5 percent.
49 percent of poll respondents identified as Democrats, 40 percent as Republicans. 52 percent of respondents were women, 48 percent men.
Smith improved more than Casey since the Morning Call’s mid-October survey. Then, Casey lead 45 percent to 37. The Real Clear Politics average of the race, which includes this poll, shows Casey ahead by 5.4 points, 48.2 percent to 42.8 for Smith.
Kane, meanwhile, is doing better. Her lead grew a point from the mid-October poll when she lead Freed 40 percent to 28. That race was not on television prior to the previous poll but has been since.
Casey had narrow job approval, 38 percent to 37, and his personal favorability was positive 39 percent to 37. Smith was viewed favorably 35 percent to 34.
Gov. Tom Corbett’s job approval was negative, 38 percent to 37. But his -1 rating is better than the mid-October poll, when he was underwater by 9 points (41 percent disapproved, 32 percent approved).

Obama lead women by 8 points, 52 percent to 44. Romney lead among men, 49 percent to 45. He also had a lead among independents, 48 percent to 43.
The President has positive job approval by 1 point, 48 percent to 47.

The Kane victory is most definitely a repudiation of Corbett. Corbett is in big trouble. The Sandusky scandal, his proposed cuts in college funding, his involvement in the PSU Board of Trustees, the fact that unemployment was below the national average when he took office and it is now above the national average. Wasn’t Marcellus shale supposed to be our savior?
Mitt has made business very successful like Staples. Mitt has a good record for turning businesses around and making money for the company. We need him to turn the USA into a prospering country for all of america. The next 4 years will be great for everyone who wants to prosper. Think green and you will see more green in your paycheck.
Freed’s last stop on the campaign? Right into the arms of the man that cleared the field for him to run: Tom Corbett. They should have allowed someone to run who was independent and, frankly, had a little backbone.
Does Corbett even bother to run in two years? Does he lose in the Republican primary to any opponent? Freed, the guy with more experience, can’t get out of the 30%’s?? I think this is a referendum on Tom Corbett. The Republicans won’t win a state wide seat this cycle. That should send a message to Tom Corbett!!!
