The candidates for Pennsylvania state Treasurer have been busy raising money and campaigning since April
McCord raised $201,245.70 during cycle 4, which ran from from the April primary to Sept. 17. He has $2,073,355.64 cash on hand. That includes over $450,000 in long-standing campaign loans by McCord himself.
In the same six-month period, Diana Irey Vaughan raised $103,318.54 and reported $22,329 on hand. Her campaign said last night that she’s raised more since the report and has about $40,000 on hand.
“Our campaign doesn’t need to match Rob McCord dollar for dollar in this race,” said Christina Brussalis, Irey Vaughan’s campaign spokeswoman. “We just need enough to get our message out to Pennsylvania voters. We’re meeting our fundraising goals, and we will have everything we need to implement our plan in the days ahead.”
She said voters would choose Irey Vaughan over, “Rob McCord’s failed leadership.”
“This will be the biggest upset of this election year,” added Irey Vaughan consultant Jason Fitzgerald.
First elected in 1995, Diana is the only woman to ever serve as Washington County Commissioner.
Prior to his election in 2008, incumbent Rob McCord made his living as an executive at several investment firms and he hails from Montgomery County.
“We’re proud of the support we’re getting all over the state; it’s clearly a response to the incredible success we’ve had in our first term,” said Mark Nevins, McCord campaign spokesperson. “Treasurer McCord has generated record investment returns for Pennsylvania and has helped save the state millions by implementing corporate-style efficiencies in his role as fiscal watchdog. We’re looking forward to sharing that success story with voters in the weeks ahead.”
The Pa. Treasurer is charged with keeping secure the financial assets of the state, which total more than $120 billion mostly notably in pension funds.

All this shows is McCord will be in everyone’s back pocket! The Republicans are going to lose everything because they don’t support candidates. Irey has done an amazing job as a county commissioner for over 16 years.
And Casey is so worthless if PA puts him in charge we might as well just close the state down. Hopefully Smith will take him down!
As long as Senator Casey doesn’t run for Governor, Rob McCord should and will be the Democratic nominee for Governor in 2014. His private sector business experience coupled with his leadership at the Treasury make him the best candidate to beat Corbett.

Corbett is finished. I’ll be surprised if he makes it though his term.
Odds are better for Cawley than Corbett if you know what I mean.
Joe Sestak doesn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell at making it through a Democratic Primary race for governor. He burnt way too many bridges in 2010 and he brought the whole ticket down. Sestak is a proven loser. McCord has a legitimate shot but I’d rather see Allyson Schwartz. Really any Dem would be better that Sestak.
I will switch my registration to Democrat and vote for McCord if it is him vs. Sestak in 2014. Corbett needs to go and McCord and Casey are the only ones who can do it.
Diana Irey has never held a private sector job. She has a GED from her hometown in West Virginia. She is utterly unqualified to do the job. That is why no one, not even Republicans, will give her money.
Joe Sestak will be the next governor, not McCord.
McCord will easily win this election and then take down Corbett in 2014.
