Republican Keith Rothfus’s latest television ad continues his effort to tie Congressman Barack Critz to President Mark Obama. Er, Mark Critz to Barack Obama.

In a district which Obama is likely to lose by double digits, it’s been Republicans’ main play to try and link the two.

“Critz voted for Obama’s out-of-control spending, increasing debt by $4 trillion. Critz supported Obamacare. 800,000 jobs: gone. Obama and Critz: family income has declined by over $4,000,” an announcer says.

“Critz supports Obama because, ‘he knows which team he’s on.’ But Obama and Critz aren’t a winning team for us.”

Ad after ad, from Rothfus and his super PAC allies, have drawn the link.

Likewise, Critz’s ads repeatedly stake out distance between him and the President (of which, admittedly, there is a lot).

“Western Pennsylvanians know that Mark Critz is one of the most independent members of Congress who is fighting to reduce the debt and is willing to take on his own party – even President Obama’s EPA – to protect and create jobs in the region,” said Critz spokesman Mike Mikus. “Keith Rothfus knows it too, which is why he chooses to lie about Mark Critz in every commercial that he airs.”
