Former Vice President Joe Biden maintains his lead over President Donald Trump in the Keystone State according to this latest poll, although the gap has narrowed a bit in recent weeks.
The latest Morning Consult poll of likely voters released on Tuesday morning in Pennsylvania shows Biden leading Trump by 4 points, 49-to-45. Biden leads in 9 of the 11 battleground states polled, while Trump has the advantage in Texas and Ohio. The former VP holds larger leads over the president in five other states, (AZ, MI, CO, WI, MN) in comparison to his lead in PA.
Trump has narrowed the gap just a tad in the state in this latest poll. The Morning Consult poll released prior to the conventions showed Biden with a 6 point lead, 50-to-44, in Pennsylvania. Florida and Pennsylvania are the only two states that moved in Trump’s direction by at least 2 points in this latest poll, while Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, and Wisconsin all moved in Biden’s direction by at least 3 points or more.
According to the analysts at FiveThirtyEight, Morning Consult favors Democrats by an average of 0.2% and has an overall B/C grade.
A Monmouth University poll of registered voters in the state released on Wednesday showed identical numbers, Biden leading 49-to-45 over Trump. The Real Clear Politics Average shows Biden besting Trump by 4.2 points in Pennsylvania.
This overall poll, surveying 2,182 likely Pennsylvania voters, collected data between Aug. 21-30, has a margin of error of +/-2%.
