National Journal: Fitzpatrick Most Liberal PA Republican, Schwartz Most Conservative Dem

Full CongresThe National Journal released their annual ideological ratings for the members of the U.S. Congress this week and they revealed some interesting tidbits about the PA delegation.

Among Pennsylvania congressman, Rep. Chaka Fattah was judged the most liberal member of the delegation. Reps. Cartwright, Doyle, and Brady followed closely in the rankings. Meanwhile, Scott Perry was the most conservative Congressman with Reps. Pitts and Rothfus not far behind

While perhaps not surprising, it’s interesting to note that Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz, who is currently running for Governor, received the lowest liberal score among the state’s Democrats. What was shocking, however, was that Republican Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick actually scored a higher liberal score than conservative one.

The magazine compiled these lists by charting key economic, social, and foreign policy votes from 2013. The scores identify the percent of the House that is more liberal or conservative than the representative. A more detailed explanation of how these ratings were calculated can be read here.
