Nearly 9,000 Votes Already Cast in PA Primary

Pennsylvania mail ballot envelopes 2024

Nineteen days prior to the 2024 Pennsylvania presidential primary, nearly 9,000 Keystone State registrants have already cast their votes via absentee or no-excuse mail ballot.

And probably to the chagrin of Republicans, Democrats have returned nearly 70% of the 9,174 ballots as of yesterday with GOP registrants sending back a little under 30%.

Those 65-and-over appear to enjoy the convenience of mail balloting most, as nearly 7 in 10 of the returned ballots come from that age group, while only 3.4 percent have been sent back from those under the age of 30.

Rural voters also prefer the ease of voting via mail, as more than half of that total has come from those areas, compared to 26.6% from urban and 20.9% from suburban areas.

Here is a map provided by our friends at L2 Data.

In all, Pennsylvanians have requested 817,533 absentee or mail ballots with an April 16 deadline looming. Nearly three-quarters of those were requested by Democrats.
