New Survey: Overwhelming Majority Of Americans Want Liberal Joe Sestak’s Massive Health Care Overhaul Repealed

Nearly 60 Percent Of Americans Reject Obama’s Costly, Partisan Health Spending Bill That Sestak Eagerly Rubberstamped In Washington

WASHINGTON – With just 64 days until Election Day, a new voter survey by Rasmussen Reports shows that 58 percent of Americans favor the repeal of the Democrats’ massive health care overhaul, which embattled U.S. Representative Joe Sestak (D-PA) eagerly rubberstamped in Washington.

The survey also shows that the majority of Americans do not believe the Democrats’ claim that their costly, unpopular bill will lower health care costs – a pitch that Democrats have sought to backtrack as most voters believe their costs will increase.

Notably, Sestak’s health care bill cuts Medicare by $500 billion, endangers jobs, reduces benefits and raises costs for Pennsylvania seniors, and could strip more than one million Americans of their health coverage.

“With just 64 days until Election Day, this survey is yet another reminder that liberal Joe Sestak and his reckless, partisan Washington policies are far outside the mainstream in his state. Sestak not only voted for President Obama’s costly health spending law, he called for a larger bill that would put Washington bureaucrats between Pennsylvanians and their doctors,” said National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) spokeswoman Amber Marchand. “It’s clear that voters continue to overwhelmingly reject Sestak’s rubberstamp support for President Obama’s reckless tax-and-spend policies in Washington, and that’s why Pennsylvanians will elect a fiscally responsible leader in Pat Toomey.”

Background Information:

Sestak Voted For The Final Version Of The Obama-Pelosi-Reid Health Spending Bill That President Obama Later Signed Into Law. (H.R. 3590, CQ Vote #165: Motion Agreed To 219-212: R 0-178; D 219-34, 3/21/10, Sestak Voted Yea)

Sestak Touted The Obama-Pelosi-Reid Health Spending Law At A Recent Health Care Fair. ‘“It is the responsibility of those who worked on this effort of securing affordable care for all Americans to now explain to people the ways they can and will benefit,’ said the Congressman. ‘We are providing millions of uninsured Americans with quality, affordable health care, delivering much needed relief to seniors in the form of prescription drug benefits, and offering tax credits to small businesses to enable them to provide coverage for their employees. These initiatives are especially timely after so many working families lost their jobs and savings during the recession.’” (Rep Joe Sestak, “Congressman Sestak Hosts First Healthy Families Resource Fair,” Press Release, 8/7/10)

Sestak Said He Would “Have A Very Difficult Time Voting For Any Plan That Doesn’t Have A Public Option,” Calling It “An Absolute Economic Requirement.” SESTAK: “To get out of the public health-care plan option? I hope not. I’m going to have a very difficult time voting for any plan that doesn’t have a public option. Look, we have a responsibility to cover everyone, but we also have a requirement to do reform, to get prices down, so in the future we can afford health care as a nation. And that’s what the public option is. It’s an absolute economic requirement.” (MSNBC’s “The Ed Show,” 9/4/09)
