1. Krasner and Allies Slam Impeachment And Removal Effort

“Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner, who was impeached last week by the Pennsylvania state House, denounced the charges against him as a Republican-led effort to disenfranchise city voters and said the push to remove him from office sets a dangerous precedent.

During a news conference at Philadelphia City Hall Monday, Krasner and more than a dozen of his political allies said the prosecutor has not committed any impeachable offenses but was impeached for implementing progressive policies.” (Philadelphia Inquirer)

2. Benninghoff To Step Down From PA House Republican Leadership

“More fall-out from the tumultuous 2022 election cycle hit Pennsylvania’s General Assembly Monday with the news that current House Majority Leader Kerry Benninghoff (R-Centre/Mifflin), will not seek a Republican leadership position for the 2023-24 term.

For state House Republicans, that means at least two of the current top three caucus leaders will be new in the next session; House Appropriations Committee Chairman Stan Saylor (R-Red Lion) was defeated in a Republican primary in his district this spring, so he will be leaving the House altogether.” (PennLive)

3. Lamb To Join High-Powered Philadelphia Law Firm

“U.S. Rep. Conor Lamb plans to join a high-profile Philadelphia-based law firm after leaving Congress at the end of the year, the firm Kline & Specter announced Monday.

In Lamb (D-Mt. Lebanon), the personal injury firm gets a young politician who rose to national prominence with his first-ever campaign in 2018 — a race where he flipped a Republican-held seat in a district Donald Trump had carried by a whopping 20 points less than two years earlier. He fended off two more challengers before deciding to run for the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate this year, a race he lost to presumptive senator-elect and Lt. Gov. John Fetterman.” (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette)

  1. Reading Toomey’s comments, he really should start forming a 2024 campaign for the Republican nomination. He would be the type of candidate that a fractured Republican Party could gravitate towards as a viable (normal) alternative to loony Trump and extreme DeSantis.
