October 30th Playbook

A judge rules against Pittsburgh City Council’s gun laws passed after last year’s synagogue massacre, while an election reform bill aimed at increasing voting access heads to Gov. Tom Wolf’s desk. Here is the Playbook. 

Booker, Harris, Steyer Participate in Philly Criminal Justice Reform Town Hall: The three Democratic presidential hopefuls expressed their thoughts on improving the criminal justice system in America in the Justice Votes 2020 Town Hall on Monday afternoon in Philadelphia.

Third Republican To Enter Race Against Lamb: Sean Parnell, a veteran and conservative author, is set to announce a bid for Congress. Kyle Kondik, Managing Editor, Sabato’s Crystal Ball, UVA Center for Politics, said on Twitter Tuesday that with Parnell “apparently running” for the 17th Congressional District that the Crystal Ball House ratings changes Lamb’s bid from Safe Democrat to Likely Democrat. Last week, President Donald Trump mentioned Parnell as a candidate for the race, during his trip to Pittsburgh.

Fitzpatrick Likely a “No” On Impeachment Resolution: Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-Bucks) said he is likely to vote no of the impeachment resolution, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer’s Jonathan Tamari. In a tweet, Tamari said that Fitzpatrick thinks “very serious” questions should be investigated by law enforcement and facts delivered to Congress, while calling the Democrats process as a “three ring circus.”

  1. “Bike Lane” should be worrying about dealing the lowlifes and junkies ruining Downtown.

  2. Prince William has been raging about this. He is tweeting (probably from Cappy’s based on some of the content) that State Preemption Laws take away the City’s “domestic tranquility”. The reality is he knew that this would get struck down. The real work, the necessary but more difficult path would be to fight for change in Harrisburg and stay vigilant.
    I stunned, stunned i tell you, that Judge James did not see the strength and legal force and effect of the “domestic tranquility” legal theory.
