October 31st Playbook

Some new polling shows a couple of Congressional races separated by just a few points. Here is the Playbook.

U.S. Supreme Court Declines GOP Appeal Over Changes To PA Congressional Map: The state Supreme Court overturned the previous map in January.

PA1: New York Times/Siena College Poll: Fitzpatrick 47 Wallace 46: Their polling conducted two weeks prior showed much more positive numbers towards the Democrat.

PA8: Cartwright, Chrin Debate at WVIA-TV: They jousted over gun control, partisanship and more.

PA10: ABC27/Susquehanna Polling and Research Poll: Rep. Perry 49 Scott 46: President Trump has a positive net job approval rating in this poll, while a majority still prefer their Congressional representative to serve as a check on his policies.

Costello Says Trump’s Birthright Citizenship Comment is “Political Malpractice”: The GOP representative in the Philadelphia suburbs took to Twitter to express his displeasure with President Donald Trump’s recent comments about birthright citizenship and believes it will hurt suburban Republicans. “We all know challenges of suburban R’s. The bloc of competitive R held districts less impacted by POTUS thus far are those w high # of immigrants. So now POTUS, out of nowhere, brings birthright citizenship up. Besides being basic tenet of America, it’s political malpractice,” the tweet stated.

The Economist Takes a Look into PA1: Another national outlet dives into the race in the Philadelphia suburbs to see if incumbent Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-Bucks) can win reelection in the not so Trump friendly 1st District.

New York Times Profile on D.A. Krasner: New York Times Magazine’s Ben Austen takes a look into the Philadelphia District Attorney’s progressive platform and attempting to fulfill his “promises of radical criminal-justice reform in Philadelphia.”
