October 6th Playbook

Sen. Pat Toomey announces that he will not be seeking another term in the Senate or run for Governor in 2022, while former VP Joe Biden is slated to deliver an address in Gettysburg today. Here is the Playbook. 

NYT/Siena College Poll: Biden 49, Trump 42: Likely voters sided with Biden over Trump on handling the coronavirus pandemic, Unifying America, maintaining law and order, choosing a Supreme Court Justice, and protecting people with pre-existing conditions. The lone issue of the six asked in the poll that voters sided with the president was on the economy.

CBS/YouGov Poll: Biden 51, Trump 44: Trump has the slight edge over Biden on the economy and protecting American manufacturing, while Biden is trusted more on healthcare and responding to the coronavirus pandemic.

Former Scranton Mayor Bill Courtright Sentenced to 7 Years in Federal Prison for Corruption: The former Democratic mayor must surrender to serve his prison sentence by Oct 30, pay a fine of $25,300, and serve 250 hour of community service in Scranton upon his release from prison, according to the Citizens Voice.

Toomey Announces He Won’t Run for Senate or Governor in 2022: The GOP Senator described his decision to not seek office in 2022 as “not a political one,” but rather a personal one, and added that he will serve out the remainder of his term before returning to the private sector.

DePasquale Poll: DePasquale 51, Perry 45: The poll conducted by GBAO shows Eugene DePasquale leading Rep. Scott Perry by 6 points. Former VP Joe Biden holds a 4 point edge over President Donald Trump in the district.

Biden To Travel To Gettysburg: Former Vice President Joe Biden will visit Gettysburg on Tuesday, according to a press release from his campaign.

Women For Trump Bus Tour to Visit Lawrence County: On Thursday, the Trump campaign’s “Women for Trump” bus tour will be stopping in Lawrence County. Trump 2020 senior advisors Lara Trump and Katrina Pierson, plus 2020 senior advisor for strategic communications Mercedes Schlapp will headline the event.
