Organizing for America-Pennsylvania Statement on President Obama’s Signing of the Small Business Jobs Act into Law

Philadelphia – Organizing for America-Pennsylvania Communications Director Kerri Axelrod issued the following statement after President Obama signed the Small Business Jobs Act Into law this afternoon.  The bill extends the successful Small Business Act provisions of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which means that it will restart the SBA’s Recovery lending, allowing more than 1,300 small businesses to receive the credit they need within a few days, and thousands more small business will receive the benefits within the coming weeks.   The bill also includes eight new small business tax cuts and is expected to create half a million jobs.

“Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, providing jobs for thousands of working families here in Pennsylvania. Since December 2007, small businesses have lost more than six million jobs.  The Small Business Jobs Act will provide desperately needed assistance to thousands of small businesses across the country, breathing new life into our economy and our workforce.  The Act builds on the successful provisions of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.  It will allow small business access to desperately needed credit within days.  Additionally the bill provides eight new small business tax cuts.

“Organizing for America volunteers across Pennsylvania have been working to support President Obama’s agenda to create jobs and strengthen our economy and are now working to elect and reelect Democrats who will fight for middle class families in Congress—unlike Republicans, who have made clear they would put special interests first.  Since taking office, the Obama Administration has taken significant steps to grow the economy, passing the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, passing legislation to provide access to affordable health care for all Americans, and reforming the way that Wall Street works.”
