The fundraising numbers are posted for one of the most-watched congressional races in the country – the 7th District in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Democratic incumbent Susan Wild (D-Lehigh) is being challenged by Republican Lisa Scheller in a rematch of their hotly-contested 2020 race. Wild won that race by 14,000 votes but the second round may prove to be even closer.

Wild brought in $850,528.83 in the second quarter of the year, while spending $217,596.55. She has $3,143,371.14 cash on hand entering the second half of the season. The online fundraising platform for Democrats – ActBlue – saw $330,198 run through its portal. Wild’s top individual donors included Nancy Kohlberg, CEO of the Kohlberg Foundation, and Casey Bloys, chief content officer for HBO and HBO Max ($2,900).

Emily’s List has been Wild’s main contributor among political action committees, putting $22,265 into her coffers. She has also received $5,000 donations from UA Union Plumbers & Pipefitters Vote! PAC and the United Food And Commercial Workers International Union Active Ballot Club.

Scheller raised $365,342.82 and spent $371,460.28 from April through June 30. She has a bank account totaling $1,190,663.89. Scheller has contributed $610,000 to her own campaign as well.

The former Lehigh County commissioner and CEO of Silberline Manufacturing brought in $152,183 from WinRed, the GOP fundraising arm. She also received $16,836 from the Republican Jewish Committee PAC and $5,000 contributions from Koch Industries, Inc., PAC, Electing Majority Making Effective Republicans and Jam PAC.

Top individual gifts of $2,900 came from David McCormick, candidate for the GOP Senate nomination, Scott Wagner, 2018 GOP gubernatorial candidate; Andrew Wright, an executive with Vinart Management Co.; Joe Topper Jr., chair of CrossAmerica Partners; Adam Beren, president of Berexco; Paul Singer, president of Elliott Investment Management; and Robert Asher, co-chair of the board of Asher’s Chocolates.

According to the most recent FiveThirtyEight.com forecast, Scheller is slightly favored to win the seat, although the race has tightened considerably over the last 30 days.

  1. Why is Convicted Felon for Political Crimes Robert “Candy Man ” Asher having anything to do with Politics in Pennsylvania much less being a Republican National Committee Member ? It is just shameful that anyone in Politics would have anything to do with Felon Asher that did a year in Club Fed !
