PA-11: Smucker Announces Reelection Bid

Rep. Lloyd Smucker

Rep. Lloyd Smucker (R-Lancaster/York) has announced that he is running for another term for the U.S. Congress.

Smucker, who represents the 11th Congressional District, is in his fourth term serving constituents in Lancaster and York counties. A business owner for 25 years, he served two terms in the Pennsylvania State Senate before being elected to Washington in 2016.

“You know my story, I was born Amish, one of 12 children,” he said in a campaign announcement. “I worked nights hanging drywall to pay for my high school education. At age 17, I purchased that drywalling business for $1,000 and over 25 years we worked to become a regional leader.

“I ran for Congress to ensure the American Dream would be available to our kids and grandkids. The commitment to a better future for the next generation is bleak with Joe Biden in the White House and our national debt exceeding $33 trillion,” said Smucker, a senior member of the House Budget Committee.

“We cannot change the direction of our country without Republicans in control of the House, Senate and the White House. That is why it is crucial that we win big in 2024 and take back our country.”

Smucker defeated Democrat Bob Hollister, 62-38, in the 2022 race.

He lives in West Lampeter Township with his wife, Cindy, and three children.
