With the Highway Trust Fund (HTF) slated to dry up next month, a conservative nonprofit group is praising Rep. Keith Rothfus for his support of federally funded infrastructure upgrades.
American Action Network, a 501(c)4 nonprofit organization, debuted a 30-second TV ad on Wednesday titled “One Road”
The spot calls on constituents to thank Rothfus for his support for the HTF. Rothfus was one of 228 Republicans who voted in favor of the Highway and Transportation Funding Act of 2015 in May. The bill gave the HFT an extension until July 31, and passed in the House with a 387-35 vote.
The commercial positions infrastructure spending, which has traditionally been associated with Democrats, as a conservative issue. The narration asserts that as infrastructure grew, “America’s economy grew,” and conservative legislators are working to prevent the “mismanagement”, “bureaucracy” and “red tape” that plague public works projects.
“Conservatives are building our nation the right way,” the narrator states. “They’ve done away with expensive earmarks that bloat the budget, streamlining projects for faster construction.”
The ad concludes by asking constituents to “thank Keith Rothfus for his leadership, and tell him to keep voting to rebuild America.”
AAN paid the full $67,000 cost of the ad, which will run for one week in the Johnstown media market.
