PA-13: Leach Receives Sen. Sanders’ Endorsement

In a big boost to his campaign, Daylin Leach received the endorsement of U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) in Leach’s quest for Pennsylvania’s 13th District.

“At a time when our country has more income and wealth inequality than any other major country on earth, and when the gap between the very rich and everyone else is growing wider— it is imperative that we send candidates like Daylin Leach to the U.S. Congress,” said Sanders.

Sanders, who’s been the junior Senator in Vermont since 2007, cited Leach’s focus on several hot-button issues as the reason for his support. These include the expansion of Social Security benefits, increasing the minimum wage, making higher education more affordable and shrinking the gap between the rich and the poor.

“I am thrilled to have the endorsement of a progressive titan like Senator Sanders,” Leach said.  “The Senator’s recognition of the work that we have been doing to bring light to the economic issues that are dividing our country is humbling.  I look forward to going Washington to work with leaders such as Sen. Sanders to make sure the richest Americans pay their fair share and that the big banks and Wall Street that wrecked our economy are held accountable.”

Fortunately for Leach, Sanders is not his only major, national endorsement. He also has the support of Democracy for America, MoveOn.org, the Progressive Change Campaign Committee and U.S.Rep. Alan Grayson (D-FL), among several others.

Other Democratic candidates running in the 13th District include physician Val Arkoosh, former Congresswoman Marjorie Margolies and State Rep. Brendan Boyle.

  1. No mention in the article that Bernie Sanders is a Socialist and was elected as such. I respect him for his views and he has a right to his opinion. However, Daylin, who I also respect, has views that will create more government. See his video on his website about health care reform to see where he is coming from.

  2. Congrats to Sen Leach. My favorite US Senator now endorses my favorite PA State Senator. I sense a pattern, and it forebodes well. Best luck.

  3. Does Grayson still support Daylin after Daylin threw him under the bus?

Let’s hope Sanders doesn’t run afoul of a false accusation.
