PA-16: Pitts Backs Scalise in Leadership Fight
Last week, Speaker of the House John Boehner unexpectedly resigned.
Since then, there’s been a free-for-fall for spots in the House leadership. It seems likely that current Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy of California will emerge as the next Speaker but there’s little certainty beyond that.
“Steve Scalise is a strong, thoughtful pro-life leader who has worked tirelessly to bring our conference together and achieve conservative victories,” Rep. Pitts said in a joint statement with New Jersey Rep. Chris Smith. “Steve has a firm grasp on important policy challenges, and he knows how to unite Republicans to advance our conservative principles. We are proud to support him as our next Majority Leader.”
