PA-2: Evans to Receive PAC Help, Meets with Wolf and Kenney

wolf-ad-evansThat was fast.

Yesterday, State Rep. Dwight Evans announced his campaign for Congress and alluded to support from Governor Wolf and Democratic front-runner for Mayor of Philadelphia Jim Kenney.

“I hope at the appropriate time that they will be helpful for me when I make the case to them,” Evans told the Inquirer’s Chris Brennan. “They’ve both known me a long time.”

Maybe that was what he was doing today.

Evans isn’t only working on endorsements, however, as apparently he’ll have plenty of financial support as well.

According to Dave Davies of WHYY, the SuperPAC Forward Philadelphia will be backing Evans’ campaign. This organization also aided Kenney’s campaign during the May Democratic primary.

The seat is held by Congressman Chaka Fattah who is running for re-election despite facing 29 criminal counts.

Other Democratic candidates in the 2nd district’s primary are State Representative Brian Sims, Ninth Ward Leader Dan Muroff and Lower Merion Township Commissioner Brian Gordon.
