Family law attorney Kerith Strano Taylor has announced that she is running for the office of Representative in Congress for Pennsylvania’s 5th District.

Strano Taylor spoke to a crowd of bipartisan supporters who made the trek out to hear her announcement on this snowy February morning.

“I am humbled by the presence of so many supporters that are here today. I am filled with great excitement and a sense of responsibility as I announce my candidacy for the office of Representative in the United States Congress of Pennsylvania’s Fifth Congressional District,” said Strano Taylor.

The congressional hopeful has political experience in the form of her position as President of the Brookville Area School Board as well as her appointment to the Federal Relations Network, a national organization that works to improve education policy.

Strano Taylor cited several issues that she wants to address as Congresswoman, including the national debt, policy and political gridlock, education, and sustainability.

“I am a concerned citizen that sees a fundamental lack of leadership in Pennsylvania’s Fifth Congressional District and in Washington. I will bring a new perspective to Congress. Negotiation works when the needs of the people are put first,” said Strano Taylor. “As a small business owner, I understand the need for sound fiscal judgement, a balanced budget, and providing a stable and open environment that enables growth for employees and business.”

She concluded her rally by stating, “I believe Pennsylvania and the Nation are still a place of opportunity and that brighter days are ahead of us. Together, we can strengthen our communities and prepare the next generation for success.”

The following bio is taken from her campaign’s press release:

A graduate of the Pennsylvania State University and George Mason School of Law, Strano Taylor returned to her hometown of Brookeville and opened her own law firm where she practices family law. T Since 2004, Kerith has served as Guardian ad Litem for Jefferson County, representing children who find themselves in the foster care system.

Strano Taylor is running against incumbent Rep. Glenn “GT” Thompson (R-Centre) for his Congressional seat in PA’s 5th District, which he has held since 2009.

  1. Another closet commie. Every time I hear one of these mud wallowing pigs talk about “bi-partisanship” and “working together”, it just means kiss ass on Obama and his Stalinist agenda. Black masks and machine guns kicking down your door (if you’re a political dissident) in the middle of the night stems form what the Marxist Left defines as “bipartisanship”.

  2. R+6 isn’t out of reach, although it’ll be a tough climb particularly in an off-year. But she sounds like she knows what she’s talking about.

  3. The Fifth has always been a lock for Republicans and it’s been hard to get a Democrat to run, but this year we have both Strano Taylor and Thomas Tarantella vying for the D nomination. All power to them. Thompson’s had it too easy.

  4. I don’t know her, but she sounds good to me. Thompson has got to go and she sounds like she has the right kind of experience to beat him and she is good looking to boot.
