PA-6: As Seen on TV?

Trivedi, left, and Gerlach

It’s been a rather dull affair on Pennsylvania’s 6th district race, television wise. There’s been barely any TV relatively speaking, and for the time being, it looks like that will continue.

Manan Trivedi, the Democrat challenging Rep. Jim Gerlach (R-Chester) is not present on any network channels and a GOP source said his ads have stopped altogether since Oct. 14, even on cable.

A Trivedi spokesman said the campaign’s ads are airing presently.

Gerlach is on cable; his current flight ends Monday but a campaign spokesman said they will be extending it. He has not advertised on network TV.

PoliticsPA took a look at the Federal Communications Commission filings by Philly-area broadcast stations, and found that Trivedi purchased scattered ad spots on morning and evening news shows. Those lasted for just two weeks, ending October 5.

That’s been the story for Philadelphia TV stations this cycle. The presidential race has been quiet in Pa. and only the U.S. Senate candidates are spending significantly there. Congressional races in the area have been low-key – evidenced by the decision by national committees to cancel their scheduled buys there.

Only Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick (R-Bucks) has a serious advertising presence on network television – $800,000 from Oct. 10 through election day.
