PA-8: DCCC Hits Fitzpatrick With Web Ad

The DCCC unveiled their latest effort to attack House Republicans for opposing the Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is paying for web ads and has set up a website, www.RepublicanHealthGames.com, that seeks to show voters what life would be like under an alternative Republican plan.

The concept is that Americans play a game called “Sick n’ Broke”, modeled after the Game of Life, that describes what they would face if Republicans succeed in repealing the ACA.

“Whether it’s being able to afford an emergency C-section, making sure kids get the right nutrition, ensuring women don’t have to pay more for their care or guaranteeing Medicare’s future, Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick and his Republicans play reckless games that hurt your health at every stage of life – all because they would rather stack the deck for their special interest buddies,” said Marc Brumer of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. “Now you can see just how much of a mess Congressman Fitzpatrick would make of your health care – but one spoiler alert: in this game, you can’t win.”

But the NRCC isn’t amused with the new “game.”

“The DCCC should be absolutely ashamed of itself for launching a blatantly offensive advertisement that stereotypes anyone 65 years or older as being feeble and elderly. This kind of discrimination isn’t tolerated in the workplace and shouldn’t be tolerated in the political arena,” NRCC Spokesman Ian Prior said. “Kevin Strouse should immediately call on his backers at the DCCC to pull this ad.”

Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick (R-Bucks) has long been a target of the DCCC as he represents a generally toss-up district. The Democratic organization labeled it an “emerging district” earlier this month and the nonpartisan Cook Political Report rates it R+1.

Congressman Fitzpatrick represents Pennsylvania’s Eighth Congressional District and has two potential Democratic opponents, Afghan and Iraq veteran Kevin Strouse or businesswoman Shaughnessy Naughton.

  1. By “forced down our throats” you mean vigorously debated, negotiated, and proposed a plan largely constructed by designed by the conservative Heritage Foundation in the 90s, then passed by a majority of the people’s elected representatives in both houses and signed by a President who was then re-elected, and won Bucks County in 2012? Okay. Got it.

  2. Democrats forced this Obamacare insanity down the throats of America because they demanded they had to cover the 40 million people who didn’t have health insurance.

    So what happened?

Not only are those 40 million people STILL not covered, but the cost of insurance for tens of millions of regular hardworking people has doubled and tripled.

Not only that, but millions of Americans had their plans cancelled due to Obamacare’s crazy regulations. People were suddenly told they CAN’T keep the plans they liked.

And to add insult to injury, they’ve been told their doctor no longer will accept the crappy Obamacare plans.

And yet the DCCC wants to blame this monstrocity on the GOP!!?

    Don’t make me laugh, DCCC.

The only thing the Democrats are good at is projecting … in which they accuse the GOP of doing the very things that they themselves are screwing up.

  3. Right on DCCC. Great move by the Copernicus like geniuses there because when Democrat Patrick Murphy, who voted for the Affordable Care Act, ran for re-election in 2010, and Fitzpatrick campaigned against Obamacare Murphy won by such a huge margin over Fitzpatrick! Right?

Oh yeah Murphy lost by 7 points…
