PA-8: Strouse Earns Laborers’ Union Endorsement

Democratic congressional candidate for PA-8 Kevin Strouse picked up the backing of the Laborers’ Union Local 57 today.

“Kevin Strouse is clearly the strongest candidate to take on Congressman Fitzpatrick in the fall and deliver a win for the hard working families of the 8th District,” said Local 57 business manager Walt Higgins. “Kevin’s service as an Army Ranger who puts his country first is the mark of a true leader and a clear contrast to Congressman Fitzpatrick, whose reckless votes for the sequester and government shutdown directly resulted in over 1,000 Bucks County workers losing their jobs.”

“I am incredibly honored to have the support of the men and women in Laborers’ Local 57,” Strouse said. “Improving our infrastructure in Southeastern Pennsylvania will create jobs and improve conditions for businesses to thrive in Bucks and Montgomery Counties.”

“Congressman Fitzpatrick has failed middle class families by recklessly voting with his Tea Party allies and forcing jobs out of the district. The people of the 8th District deserve better, and I intend to be a representative who will always put our families first.”

The Local 57 is an affiliate of the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA). Their members work in manufacturing, recycling facilities, quarries and other construction related companies. The Strouse campaign cited this as their seventh labor endorsement so far in the campaign.

Strouse, an Iraq and Afghan war veteran, is running in the Democratic primary in the state’s Eighth District against businesswoman Shaughnessy Naughton. Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick is the incumbent GOP nominee.

  1. The Democrats should have learned by their past mistakes that a candidate heavily endorsed by unions is the same who will be soundly defeated by a Republican.

  2. How could Strouse “earn” anything from a union, or anyone in the 8th district? He hasn’t done squat for anyone legislatively or politically.

He just moved here a few months ago. He doesnt even know where he is hhalf the time.

Yes he GOT the endorsement but he didnt “earn” booby.
