PA-8: USW Endorses Santarsiero

Steve-SantarsieroState Rep. Steve Santarsiero announced that he secured the backing of another labor union.

The United Steelworkers are endorsing Santarsiero’s campaign.

“Steve Santarsiero has a proven track record in the Pennsylvania state legislature of fighting tirelessly to better the lives of workers and their families,” USW District 10 Director Bob McAuliffe stated. “His support of a stronger education system is well-documented, and he has been a leading voice for creating jobs by rebuilding our crumbling state infrastructure. The USW does not normally endorse in a primary race such as this, but we felt it necessary to do so here. Steve’s unwavering support for working families in the legislature is not just talk – it is proven. He will be a great voice in Congress.

“In our opinion, Steve is the only Democratic candidate in this race who can win this seat in November, and he will do that by appealing to a large, cross section of the electorate,” he concluded. “USW local unions and members in the 8th Congressional District will be going to work soon to help make sure that Steve will be on the November ballot.”

“I’m both proud and humbled to announce the United Steelworkers is joining so many organizations representing working families that are firmly in our corner,” Santarsiero responded. “For years, we’ve been standing together fighting for a better, more prosperous future for Pennsylvania. I’m looking forward to continuing that fight in Congress.”

Santarsiero is running against Shaughnessy Naughton in the Democratic primary.

The 8th Congressional District represents all of Bucks County as well as parts of upper Montgomery County.

  1. They may not support Shaughnessy in the primary, but she will support them when elected to Congress.

  2. Not sure how shaughnessy is going to argue she’ll fight for us if one of the most powerful unions in the state is backing her opponent.
