PA Announces Record High Voter Turnout For 2020 Election

The 2020 presidential election broke records in the Keystone State.

According to a release from the Pennsylvania Department of State on Tuesday afternoon, Sec. of State Kathy Boockvar announced that more than 6.9 million Pennsylvanians voted by mail ballot or in person at the polls for this presidential election, setting a new record high in Pennsylvania. In the 2016 presidential election, 6.115 million Pennsylvanians voted.

70.93% of the Pennsylvania voting-age population also participated in the 2020 presidential election, which is also a new record high. The previous record in the Keystone State was in 1960 when 70.3% of the voting-age population participated in the presidential election.

9 million voters were registered to vote in this election, which is also a record for the state, according to the release.

“I am thrilled with the voter engagement and record turnout in this year’s election, which truly reflects the vitality of our democracy,” Boockvar said in the release. “It is also a powerful credit to Pennsylvania’s dedicated election officials and poll workers, who worked incredibly hard to run a free, fair and secure election with no significant  issues while contending with a pandemic, new mail-in ballot procedures and what is apparently the highest voter turnout in commonwealth history.”

Boockvar added in the press release that nearly 82,000 of the more than 100,000 provisional ballots cast at the polls on Election Day have been counted.

  1. “Boockvar added in the press release that nearly 82,000 of the more than 100,000 provisional ballots cast at the polls on Election Day have been counted.”

What Boockvar did not say was that not a single provisional ballot was cast or counted in Philadelphia County.

  2. I hope that this feather in the cap for Pa by having so many vote stops Republican chatter to end mail in and in person voting. Times have changed. Shag carpets and mullets and lava lamps and Rubrics Cubes are all in the past. So is one day in November or May voting where political workers push cards on you when you go to vote.its a new era and voting will now happen over weeks instead of days.

    1. Mail voting is a step backwards but was needed because of the pandemic. We need early in person voting in PA.

  3. PA Dems deserve a congratulations. They did it. They saved USA from another disastrous Trump term. As for the PA GOP, feel ashamed you damn numbskulls.

    1. Honest Rudy Guliani is going to make sure that President Trump has his day in the sun. How very original was it for Honest Rudy to have a press conference to claim obvious voter fraud in Philly next to an adult bookstore? This “raised” my attention. You go Rudy!!
