The Pennsylvania Democratic Party is targeting Congressman Lou Barletta (R-Luzerne) after the Trump administration denied a request for federal cleanup aid after the snowstorms that hit the northeast in March.
“Congressman Lou Barletta can secure Trump’s help for his next political campaign but can’t secure Trump’s help to provide FEMA aid after record-breaking storms in Northeastern Pennsylvania,” Pa. Dems spokesman Max Steele said in a statement.
According to the Associated Press, Barletta had urged Governor Tom Wolf to make the request to FEMA, saying the cleanup overwhelmed local budgets.
It was reported last week that Trump talked to Barletta about a possible run for the Senate.
This is not the first time the Trump administration has denied money to states for cleanup assistance, they denied North Carolina $929 million of cleanup aid.
PoliticsPA has reached out to Barletta’s campaign for comment.
