PA GOP Caucus Straw Poll Results

081025_gop_logoThe Republican State Committee will hold its winter meeting Saturday in Hershey, with a Chairman’s election drawing most of the attention. Straw poll results from across the state show clear front runners for PAGOP endorsements in the contested Superior and Commonwealth Court races.

In the Superior Court race, the four top vote getters are Judges Emil Giordano, Wade Kagarise, Paula Patrick, and Craig Stedman.  In the Commonwealth Court race Paul Lalley, and Judge Christine Fizzano Cannon are front runners or the two endorsements.  Justice Sallie Mundy was unopposed in the Supreme Court straw polls

The endorsements can benefit candidates in competitive primaries because they bring party money for campaign support. They earn endorsed candidates a place on sample ballots handed out by GOP volunteers at polling stations across the state.

In 2015, all five of the party’s endorsed candidates won in the primary including a contested Supreme Court primary.  Between 1994 and 2013, 88% of endorsed Pa. Republican candidates facing challengers went on to win the nomination.

In the lead up to the meeting, the individual caucuses hold meetings where they can hear from the candidates and hold straw polls.  PoliticsPA obtained the results of these polls and they are listed below.

  1. A lot of these people dropped out before last weeks Caucus. Why don’t you publish updated information. Hal English entering the race was a joke.
